Authorized Public Translators: your official translator in Panama

Your translation is signed and sealed by an Authorized Public Translator (Traductor Público Autorizado, English ↔ Spanish) recognized by Panama's Ministry of Education (MEDUCA). This is what people look for as an official translator in Panama or an English Spanish translator in Panama: a professional who certifies, with public faith, that the translation is true to the original.

That is why our official translation works as a certified translation or sworn translation in Panama: no extra step is needed for the institution to accept it. A translation made abroad, even if certified there, may not meet Panama's requirement. Need a Panamanian document in English for use abroad? We also provide Spanish to English translation in Panama.

Why an official translation?

Under article 25 of Executive Decree 975 of 2017, Panama's public institutions require an official translation of any document in another language that is meant to have legal effect in Panama.

Frequently asked questions.

What is an Authorized Public Translator?

A professional recognized by Panama's Ministry of Education (MEDUCA) who certifies the translation with public faith, with their signature and seal.

Do I get the apostille first or the translation?

First the document is apostilled in the country that issued it; then it is translated, so the apostille is included in the translation. More in our guide to apostille and translation in Panama.

How long does it take?

Standard 48–72 h; Rush (24 h).

Is it accepted by Panama Immigration?

Yes. A translation by an Authorized Public Translator is what Panama's National Immigration Service requires for documents in another language.

How much does a certified translation cost in Panama?

General documents: $15 per page with standard delivery (48–72 h) or $20 rush in 24 h. Legal, medical or specialized: $18 standard or $25 rush. ITBMS (7% sales tax) not included. Over 50 pages: volume pricing.

Is a sworn translation the same as a certified or official translation in Panama?

Yes. In Panama, a sworn translation, a certified translation and an official translation mean the same thing: a translation by an Authorized Public Translator (an official translator in Panama) with their signature and seal, under Executive Decree 975 of 2017.

Do you translate birth certificates and background checks for Immigration?

Yes. We translate birth certificates, criminal record checks (including the FBI report), marriage certificates and the rest of your file, apostille included.
